Observations: Minneapolis – Supercross – Racer X Online

Matthes always puts together a good weekly column with “Observations” on RacerX. His years as a mechanic and now a journalist allow him great access into the industry.

I have to agree with him and Top Jimmy on this week’s track.  It was chopped up and seemed like it was difficult for the riders to get a flow going around the track.  While it did slow the riders down it wasn’t that fun to watch on TV and even riders complained it wasn’t that fun to race.

Speaking of tracks, Durt Wurx generally does a good job.  Many times the complaint is that there isn’t enough dirt and they don’t use enough of the stadium floor, which was part of the issue with the Minneapolis track.  But last week’s also had issues with Top Jimmy pointed on Instagram (as told to do by the Durt Wurx crew so they can fix things) and promptly got called a little bitch by one of them.  When sections of the track are unfinished or dangerous, that isn’t good for the riders or the sport.  This is sport is dangerous enough without adding another risk factor that can be removed.  Finish the track, fix the parts that are dangerous and keep more of our riders from getting hurt.

Matthes compares tracks, runs a privateer shootout, and looks at 250SX East.
