First Outdoor Flights of my Syma x5sw

After getting the quadcopter as a Christmas present I flew it inside the house on “low” speed getting used to the controls and how it reacted.  I found it was very hard to fly in the living room at first due to the carpet and the way the downdraft bounced off of it.  It was all over the place and good practice for me.  Flying over hardwood was much easier but I have a lot more carpeting than hardwood in the house.

When the weather broke in February I was able to get outside three or four days in a row and fly in “high” speed mode.  Each day I was fighting the wind (which got progressively worse through the week) and recorded to the flights.  There were a number of crashes of which the x5sw brushed off and continued flying no worse for the wear.  There were a couple tree “landings”… or were they crashes?  Even one run away where I lost control and it dropped 30+ feet out of the air into my neighbor’s yard.

Speak of range, it pretty much sucks.  I live in the country and there isn’t a ton of wireless networks in my area so interference should not be an issue.  I’d say 40-50 yards is about the max, after that it gets a little sketchy!

Below are the first video’s I took on the first day I flew outside.
